 J Class Association
One Design Class Sailing involves sailors from all ages sailing identical boats. This type of racing has become very popular because it takes the emphasis away from how much money you spend on a certain type of design to the emphasis on skill level.
One Design boats are strictly controlled when manufactured and equipped. This eliminates unfair advantage from one boat to the other based on technology or dollars invested. This also enhances and guarantees the resale value of your boat, since your boat will be equally competitive as a ten year old boat or a new boat.
In addition to having similar boats at a cost efficient level, you are not saddled with the burden of having a rating which can be used for or against you. In One Design racing, each boat races boat-for-boat with each other. In other words, there is no time allowance given.
